Job Summary

As a seasoned IT Project Manager with the City of Arlington, you will provide project management leadership to successfully deliver departmental and enterprise-wide programs and projects through the full project lifecycle. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing overall project management of technology-related projects for various city departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management Leadership: Lead and manage complex, large-scale IT projects and programs from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across different city departments to understand project requirements and objectives, including overseeing the development of functional and technical requirements.
  • Procurement Management: Manage the procurement process by partnering with Finance/Purchasing and the project team to secure vendor-provided professional/consulting services, hardware, and software solutions.
  • Project Monitoring and Control: Monitor project progress and performance, providing regular updates to stakeholders and IT management, and identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Methodology Implementation: Implement and adapt project management methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall, as appropriate for each project.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous process improvement of the IT PMO and overall organizational project management maturity.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as an effective representative and liaison between the IT department and other City departments.
  • Change Management: Manage the project change control process and obtain stakeholder sign-offs.
  • Documentation Management: Create and update project and technical documentation.
  • PPM Software Administration: Serve as administrator of the project portfolio management (PPM) software tool, PPM Pro.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration/Management, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of experience in managing large technology projects and ongoing enterprise application support.
  • Certification: Must have or obtain Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute within twelve (12) months of employment and maintain throughout duration of employment.
