Garg Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced and skilled Resident Engineer for our Construction Inspection service in New York.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Resident Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil, highway, structural, and bridge engineering, and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Responsibilities:- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address construction-related issues.
- Review project documentation, including plans, drawings, and specifications, to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Review/approve various engineering and project submissions, such as RFIs, working drawings, and value engineering requests.
- Materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation.
- Monitor construction activities and verify adherence to plans and specifications.
- Track, document, and manage project issues and conditions.
- Document field conditions and completed work.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise and guidance on construction inspection matters.
- Contribute to and help prepare monthly project status reports.
- College degree in civil engineering or construction management, or equivalent certification.
- NYS PE required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in highway and bridge construction.
- NYSDOT or NYSTA experience preferred, but not required.
- Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong knowledge of rail design practices and construction techniques.
- Meet background check requirements.
- 30 Hour OSHA.
- Working knowledge of CPM scheduling, experience with P6 preferred.
- Ability to perform quantity and engineering computations, read and interpret plans and specifications, and understand the fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements for material testing.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Proficient in using computer software and mobile devices for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Physical ability to perform site inspections and work in various weather conditions.
- Must be detail-oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
