Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' level of functioning and hearing, recommending mechanisms to enhance their hearing ability.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' needs, including OASIS assessments.
  • Develop and implement Speech Therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and revise as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary client care plans as it pertains to Speech Therapy.
  • Communicate with other team members and instruct them in speech pathology techniques as needed.
  • Teach, supervise, and counsel patients and their families in the total Speech Therapy program and other related problems.
  • Record all evaluation data, treatments, and patients' responses to therapeutic intervention in a timely manner.
  • Supervise Home Health Aides every 14 days when Speech Therapy is the only professional discipline involved in the patient's care.
  • Record and report to physicians patients' reactions to treatment and/or any changes in their condition.
  • Participate in the development of periodic revisions of physicians' plans of treatment, keeping them informed of patients' status and obtaining additional orders as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Therapy program or equivalent education.
  • Licensed in the State of Florida as a Speech Therapist.
  • Two years of clinical experience as a Speech Therapist.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Licensed driver with an automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the organization's requirements.
  • Must display good emotional health and be able to physically tolerate much standing, stooping, and bending; must meet all agency regulations.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision and have good observational, judgment, and communication skills.
