Nemours is seeking a Pediatric Speech Therapist (CASUAL/PRN) to join our dedicated team at Nemours Children's Health. This role is essential for providing coverage as needed in various settings, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient services. The position is designed to assist during planned absences, unexpected call-outs, and to meet patient care demands during peak times. Coverage may include weekends and holidays, with hours varying based on needs.

Located in Orlando, Florida, Nemours Children's Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that focuses on delivering exceptional healthcare to children. Our pediatric hospital features a 24-hour Emergency Department specifically designed for children, along with outpatient clinics that offer a range of specialties.

The Speech Therapist will be responsible for conducting evaluations, providing treatment, and offering consultations to patients referred to the Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Services Department. Services are delivered under a physician's prescription and adhere to departmental and hospital guidelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in pediatric care for patients ranging from birth to 21 years, with potential responsibilities involving neonates as required.

  • Clinical Competence: Exhibit proficiency in pediatric Speech Therapy in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Staff Development: Evaluate existing programs and create new initiatives to enhance knowledge and professionalism within the department; engage in peer review.
  • Clinical Education: Mentor speech therapy students, new staff, and volunteers.
  • Professional Growth: Stay updated with current trends and research in Speech Therapy; participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Program Development: Engage in initiatives to promote program awareness and usage; collaborate with community partners and participate in relevant events.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside other departments and specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner as per departmental policies and standards.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Maintain an understanding of insurance referral and authorization processes related to therapy services.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Minimum of three months of relevant experience; new graduates may be considered based on educational background.
  • Valid Florida State License to practice Speech Language Pathology.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire.
  • Membership in professional organizations (e.g., ASHA, FLASHA) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in pediatrics is advantageous.
  • Availability for weekend shifts is necessary.
