Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Analyst Senior to join our team at the City of Austin. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the City's Information Privacy Program and its mission.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of data privacy and data workflow, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the development and implementation of procedures to support information security and privacy strategies and policies.
  • Assisting in conducting information security or privacy awareness activities, such as presentations, training development, and other awareness methods.
  • Performing information security and privacy control assessments for systems.
  • Evaluating cybersecurity and privacy tools; reviewing proposals for purchases of new hardware and software; and analyzing the potential impact from using these technologies.
  • Coordinating, performing, and tracking vulnerability and penetration testing; monitoring and reviewing log information from various networks or systems.
  • Participating in information security, privacy, or risk assessments and remediation efforts for new and existing assets and data.
  • Leading incident response activities for information security and privacy incidents.

Requirements include:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, plus three (3) years of related experience.
  • Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
  • Industry certifications may be considered as substitution for education.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience overseeing or maintaining privacy policies, programs, or operations.
  • Experience providing guidance and/or performing consultations related to data privacy.
  • Experience performing Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Experience with Office 365, Microsoft Excel, Word, and any other Microsoft tools.
