As a critical care transport specialist, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care.
  • Assess and stabilize patients, utilizing online medical command or other resources as needed.
  • Participate in developing and completing research projects to improve patient outcomes.
  • Reflect a positive attitude to the customer in a high-stress environment, with a clear understanding of who the customer is.
  • Perform daily equipment checks, ensure crew is logged onto computer duty roster, and participate in shift report from off-going crew.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to all requests for service, maintaining a clean patient environment and crew quarters.
  • Participate constructively in the peer-review driven quality improvement program, maintaining fitness for duty and adhering to employee health requirements.
  • Ensure safe operation of patient-laden stretcher, employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times.
  • Adhere to rules for scheduling, including schedule requests, minimum time, and availability.
  • Actively participate in the development and training of new staff, ensuring the safety of patients and all others.
  • Collect and promptly process demographic, medical necessity, and other necessary billing information.
  • Select and use personal protective equipment appropriate to the level of the anticipated hazard.
  • Complete all official documentation in a timely manner, including payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
  • Adhere to the current uniform policy, ensuring patient and family confidentiality and dignity at all times.
  • Document appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three years clinical experience in critical care and/or emergency department
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam, including a maximum height/weight restriction of 6-2 and less than or equal to 210 pounds, fitness for duty physical exam, hearing evaluation, and be declared fit for duty by the Medical Director
  • Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any STAT MedEvac base site as assigned
  • Must have the ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support OR International Trauma Life Support OR Prehospital Trauma Life Support OR Trauma Nursing Core Course
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certified Flight Nurse (within 2 years of hire)
  • Driver's License
  • Emergency Service Vehicle Operator preferred
  • National Incident Management System Incident Command (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Incident Management System Introduction Course (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Incident Management System Single Resources (within 90 days of hire)
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
