**Job Summary**
The Dietary Cook works under the supervision of the Culinary Manager and the Dietary Manager at Powerlink, a leading provider of healthcare integrated services to long-term care and senior living facilities. The ideal candidate will have skills in food preparation, production control, inventory control, kitchen safety, sanitation, equipment use and cleaning/sanitizing, food safety, recipe adherence, therapeutic diets, and modified textured foods and liquids.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
- Assist the manager with ordering and receiving food and supplies as necessary.
- Prepare and cook meals for residents, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure efficient food production and service.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on the latest food safety and sanitation procedures.
**Requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of experience as a cook in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English to communicate effectively with colleagues and residents.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, with variable hours.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Background in safety and sanitation compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.
**Preferred Qualification**
Current ServSafe certification or Food Handler certification.
