About the Role

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our SC Transportation Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing local and national bridge and structural inspections, requiring a broad spectrum of bridge inspection equipment, methods, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead bridge inspections, develop inspection reports, and perform structural load rating calculations.
  • Travel for multiple night stays during the week and be willing to travel within the United States to inspection sites.
  • Have the physical ability to perform field inspections of in-service bridge and culvert structures, tunnel structures, highway structures, overhead sign structures, hydraulic structures, and metal traffic signal poles.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Be exposed to environmental hazards, such as warm and cold temperatures, water, work-at-height, confined spaces, poisonous plants, snakes, ticks, spiders, and other creatures.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years' related experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • Minimum of 5 years' bridge/structural inspection and design experience.
  • NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Training.
  • NHI Bridge Inspector Refresher Training, if applicable.
  • NHI Inspection of Fracture Critical Steel Bridges Training.
  • Mobile Elevating Working Platform (MEWP) Operator Certification for lifts and under bridge inspection vehicles (UBIV).
  • UAS Pilot (FAA Part 107 certification) with structural inspection experience.
  • Experience in asset management data software (i.e. AASHTOWare BrM).
