Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Convenient Care & Community Medicine Division. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care and clinical support, functioning as an integral member of the healthcare team under the direction of the provider.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Patient Preparation: Obtain and document patients' reason for visit, weight, vital signs, visit screening information, medication review, and pertinent information for the provider using the electronic medical record.
- Room Setup: Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Assisting Patients: Assist patients as needed to prepare for visits with the provider, taking measures to ensure their safety and privacy.
- Clinical Support: Provide direct patient care as directed by the provider, including performing EKGs, wound dressings, and assisting during minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations.
- Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Test and Treatment Completion: Complete patient tests and treatments per the provider's order according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Laboratory Specimens: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently to expedite laboratory studies.
- Clerical Duties: Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and the functioning of the clinic, including matching and filing ancillary department reports, consultation and other medical reports in patients' medical records.
You will also be responsible for:
- Documentation: Document in the appropriate sections to create a complete and accurate medical record.
- Scheduling: Facilitate timely appointments for patients, complete referrals and pre-authorizations as needed, and collect co-payments.
- Orientations: Assist with orientation of new personnel under the direction of the provider and/or site lead.
- Patient Communication: Execute and document ongoing patient communication, prioritize communications to the provider, respond to patient questions and requests, and reinforce patient education as directed by the provider.
