Position Overview

The Personal Care Support Specialist is responsible for delivering essential health care services, personal hygiene assistance, and various household tasks crucial for the well-being of our clients. This role involves monitoring, documenting, and communicating any changes in the client's condition to the supervising personnel. All specialists must exhibit proficiency in the required skills and adhere strictly to the care plan.

Key Responsibilities may include:
  • Ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy environment for clients by adhering to Home Helpers protocols and maintaining safety measures.
  • Conducting home management duties, including cleaning, laundry, shopping, and running errands.
  • Preparing meals as instructed and assisting clients with eating when necessary.
  • Supporting family members in caring for the client by providing guidance on nutrition, cleanliness, and household management.
  • Documenting relevant information and alerting supervisors to any changes or unusual observations.
  • Participating in ongoing training and skill development through educational opportunities.
  • Complying with professional standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) issued by Home Helpers
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • No felony convictions or recurring misdemeanor offenses
  • Completion of a multi-state background check
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and insurance
  • At least 2 years of a clean driving record
  • Current Tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position involves executing tasks under the guidance of a supervisor, primarily within the residences of clients. These settings may include private homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals. The role requires strict adherence to established procedures and standards, necessitating a high level of accuracy in observation, documentation, and reporting. The job may involve moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting, frequent bending, and walking. Effective communication skills are essential for interaction with clients, their families, Home Helpers staff, supervisors, and colleagues. This role promotes a safe and effective environment, emphasizing health maintenance, verbal communication, active listening, training, reliability, emotional stability, and teamwork in medical care for clients.
