Job Summary

The Endoscopy Technician provides critical support to physicians during endoscopic procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of the endoscopist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with all types of endoscopic procedures, adhering to universal precautions and following established protocols.
  • Verify patient information, including name, companion, and procedure type, and prepare the room accordingly.
  • Promote a therapeutic environment by providing patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain equipment in excellent condition, reporting any malfunctions to the nurse in charge.
  • Clean and disinfect procedure rooms, including endoscopes and accessories.
  • Enter patient data into the Image Manager Computer System, as trained by the manufacturer.
  • Collect and label specimens obtained during procedures, following hospital and Endoscopy guidelines.
  • Assure patient comfort, taking into consideration the patient's age and needs.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in procedure rooms on a daily basis.
  • Participate in staff meetings, attend in-services, and engage in ongoing education to update knowledge and skills in the Endoscopy field.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalency, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare, required. Nursing attendant experience preferred.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and Olympus Image Manager, required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, self-starter, team player, and manual dexterity skills, required.
  • Bilingual preferred.
