Job Overview

Hoover & Strong is seeking a skilled Production Operator, Settings to join our team in a 110-year-old, family-owned jewelry manufacturer and refiner. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for assembling and blanking settings, working on exclusive customer products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble high-quality pieces per 8-hour shift, ensuring inspections, cleanup, and job completion with less than 2% defect ratio.
  • Set up equipment accurately and independently, adjusting and correcting machine set-ups to reduce thicknesses, reshape products, and eliminate defects.
  • Cross-train in multiple jewelry departments to enhance skills and versatility.
  • Ensure accurate material ordering, scanning jobs to proper areas, and box numbers, as well as correct time and weight on each job.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to plant safety rules and regulations, wearing proper safety attire at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Able to use and read measuring instruments, such as rulers and gauges.
  • Punctual and reliable, with the ability to achieve results in conflicting situations and limited resources.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to voice opinions and ideas when problem-solving.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high ethics, respect, and honesty, with a caring and friendly attitude.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Perform tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, kicking, or kneeling.
  • Lift up to 45 pounds with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis.
  • Work in a production environment with temperature variations, chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels, and dust.
  • 20/20 distance vision with or without the use of aids such as glasses or contact lenses.
