POSITION SUMMARY
This role may be appointed in one of three capacities: Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), Teaching Support Assistant (TSA), or Graduate Support Worker (GSW).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)
Engages in scholarly endeavors, including research projects or administrative support within an academic or administrative division.

Teaching Support Assistant (TSA)
Undertakes instructional responsibilities, which may involve coordinating classroom instruction, facilitating lab or discussion sessions, tutoring students, evaluating assignments, creating educational materials, providing artistic guidance, and supervising examinations. Teaching assignments should align with the assistant's field of study, and they may not hold primary responsibilities for course instruction or student evaluation in graduate-level courses.

Graduate Support Worker (GSW)
This position serves as a developmental opportunity aimed at enhancing the student's professional growth. The primary objective is to assist the student in successfully navigating their academic journey. Responsibilities include tasks pertinent to the program of study that contribute to the university's educational, research, or service initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Selection criteria will be established by the department offering the position. Candidates should anticipate the following qualifications, among others, to be evaluated during the selection process:

WORK COMPLEXITY AND ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is generally performed in an office setting, involving periods of sitting at a desk, as well as occasional standing, walking, bending, or lifting light to moderately heavy objects.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Current employees of Northeastern State University are not eligible for this graduate student employment opportunity.

To qualify, candidates must:
  • Be fully admitted to the Graduate College, with no probationary or provisional admissions.
  • Be enrolled in a graduate degree program with an active plan of study on file.
  • Complete the required entrance examination for the graduate program, achieving the necessary score, and submit an official report to the Graduate College.
  • Additional criteria may be specified by the hiring department based on the nature of the appointment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Salary and hire date will be determined upon selection.
