The Vermont Hard Cider Company, LLC is looking for a dedicated Cellar Operator to contribute to our cider production process. We provide competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package, and a collaborative work environment with modern equipment.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Cellar Operator plays a crucial role in the creation of our cider blends and the upkeep of cellar facilities and equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Creating fermentation and product blends by following established recipes and adding necessary ingredients.
- Submitting samples for quality analysis to ensure product standards are met.
- Adhering to all standard operating procedures within the cellar.
- Disassembling and reassembling cellar equipment for cleaning and sanitization using both Clean Out of Place (COP) and Clean In Place (CIP) methods.
- Conducting environmental cleaning in fermentation and blending areas.
- Performing routine preventative maintenance on cellar equipment.
- Executing general repairs as directed by the Cellar Supervisor.
- Following all safety protocols and regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- At least 2 years of experience in brewing or manufacturing, or a relevant combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand the fermentation and blending processes within a six-month timeframe.
- Basic proficiency in math and English is essential.
- Familiarity with control screens to initiate and terminate CIP operations.
- Capability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues affecting cellar operations.
- Basic project management skills to complete tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Forklift certification is advantageous.
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable using protective equipment while handling chemicals.
- Routine exposure to cleaning and production line chemicals.
- Position involves light maintenance work in a mechanical environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity are required.
- Job entails substantial physical activity including bending, lifting, and applying pressure with hands.
