About the Role

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled Senior Utilities Operator to join our team in the Global Engineering Services department. As a key member of our utilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating various utility systems, including boilers, refrigeration units, air compressors, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and repair assigned equipment, including boilers, refrigeration units, and air compressors
  • Operate and maintain utility systems, including coal conveying systems, ash conveying systems, and instrument air compressors
  • Monitor and control utility systems, including steam, electricity, chilled water, and potable water
  • Collect and analyze samples from utility systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality assurance requirements
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on departmental trucks, carts, and other vehicles
  • Enter operational data on unit or system log sheets and charts
  • Maintain recording devices and ensure proper levels, pressures, and temperatures in utility systems
  • Assist in responding to utilities emergencies and provide leadership in training and supervising utility trainees and operators
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • At least one year of experience as a utility operator
  • Broad knowledge of utilities systems and ability to train less experienced personnel
  • Ability to react quickly and properly to emergencies
  • At least six months of on-the-job training in conducting safety and quality assurance tests/inspections on utilities streams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Great customer service skills
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
