Zurich North America's Apprenticeship Initiative

Zurich is excited to announce our Apprenticeship Program designed for individuals eager to embark on a career in the insurance sector.

Program Overview:

This innovative General Insurance Apprenticeship Program enables participants to earn their first associate degree while gaining invaluable experience in the insurance industry.

Located at our Schaumburg Headquarters, apprentices will contribute to our National Account Underwriting Services Team.

  • Managing accounts through our comprehensive service process
  • Assessing and enhancing underwriting practices while applying industry best practices
  • Assisting underwriters with policy rating and pricing tasks
  • Evaluating mandatory policy forms in relation to client accounts
  • Addressing inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal stakeholders

Earn & Learn:

This two-year program combines targeted coursework at Harper Community College with practical work rotations at Zurich North America's headquarters. The ideal candidate is pursuing their first associate degree and has limited college credits.

Successful apprentices will:

  • Engage in a paid, full-time position at Zurich
    • Work schedule: M/W/F for work, T/Th for school, with full-time pay for 40 hours/week
  • Achieve a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in:
    • Business Administration with a focus on Insurance
  • Obtain a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship
  • Acquire essential skills and credentials for today’s dynamic job market

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • No prior professional experience required
  • Must be validated as college-ready by Harper Community College Admissions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of work experience or leadership in student activities or community service
  • Interest in a career within the insurance field
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities between work and academic commitments
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Effective collaboration and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High self-discipline and focus
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork capabilities
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel
  • Comfort with online learning environments
