Forklift Maintenance Technician

The Forklift Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the ISI fleet of forklifts. This position requires someone with strong organizational and time management skills, deadline and detail oriented. A successful candidate must have extensive experience as a forklift mechanic with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and maintain forklift fleet to ensure proper functioning and safety
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on forklifts, including gas-powered and electric models
- Identify and remove unsafe equipment from the facility operating area and notify supervisor
- Ensure batteries for electric forklifts are fully charged and replace empty propane tanks on propane-powered forklifts
- Maintain a repair log for the forklift fleet
- Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
- Maintain vehicle records for services and repairs
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with ISI/OSHA standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Requirements:
- High School degree required, completion of forklift mechanic's training course required
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience as a forklift mechanic
- State inspection license preferred
- Must have own tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills necessary
- Deadline and detail-oriented
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to complete the essential functions of this position: stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, kneel, and bend
- Occasionally exerting up to 60 pounds of force and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Operating tools, performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks
- The position is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes
