Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Assistant - Private Duty to join our team at FlexStaff. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patients with assistance in performing activities of daily living, including oral and personal hygiene, meal preparation, and feeding as needed.
  • Assist the healthcare team in conducting physical and psychological assessments of patients.
  • Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake/output, and bowel movement.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, such as urine, feces, and sputum.
  • Report any changes in patient condition, treatment results, or patient/family concerns to the registered professional nurse.
  • Provide constant observation and support for patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
  • Participate in the healthcare team's responsibility to ensure patient safety.
  • Promptly respond to patient call bells and emergency lights.
  • Recognize and correct unsafe acts or conditions, and report as necessary.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently.
  • Respond to fire, evacuation, and internal/external emergencies and drills.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program required.
  • Certification by the New York State Department of Health and maintenance of standing in the State Nurse Assistant Registry required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a patient care setting preferred.
  • Heart Saver Certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
