JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview:
The Corporate Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a vital role in upholding the standards of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management policies that facilitate the production of safe and high-quality food products.
This position is responsible for the formulation of company-wide Food Safety programs and aiding in third-party evaluations across all operational sites.Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and maintain the Company's Food Safety System: Ensure independent oversight of processes, confirming adherence to company protocols and taking necessary actions to uphold its integrity.
2. Collaborate with Food Safety Practitioners at each location to validate internal audit procedures as per Food Safety standards.
3. Supervise the creation and execution of Policies and Procedures in alignment with the Food Safety System. Revise documentation as required to meet industry standards, customer demands, and regulatory requirements.4. Coordinate essential training and communication to guarantee compliance with Food Safety policies: Evaluate training needs, disseminate critical information to relevant internal stakeholders; prepare management reviews at the corporate level on a regular basis.
5. Effectively communicate and coordinate follow-up training when discrepancies from standards or processes arise.6. Maintain the Company's Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) System:
Conduct annual HACCP evaluations and plan verifications in collaboration with the HACCP Team.
7. Act as a key contributor in audit preparations and follow-ups: Support all third-party and annual Food Safety audits to ensure readiness; schedule internal and supplier audits; monitor performance metrics; oversee preventive measures and corrective actions related to Food Safety nonconformities that necessitate a response.
8. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and assist in completing customer inquiries.9. Foster a positive work environment: Provide support as needed for the team of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Managers, Documentation Specialists, and Quality Assurance Supervisors.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field plus three years of experience in Quality Assurance within a food processing context OR a minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance in food processing.
• Familiarity with USDA regulations, experience in implementing Food Safety Systems (HACCP and SQF), and proficiency in Food Safety practices (SQF Practitioner training, Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP certification, Critical Control Points).
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities; meticulous attention to detail; effective verbal and written communication skills.• Proficient in MS Office Suite: Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• A valid driver's license is required for travel to various facilities.
• Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Quality Assurance experience in poultry processing.
• Experience with third-party food safety audits.
• Knowledge of SAP ERP system.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision of the Corporate Internal Document Control Specialist and Corporate External Document Control Specialist.
Physical Requirements:
The position involves significant standing, sitting, lifting, wearing required safety equipment while working in production, walking, visual tasks, responding promptly to sounds, and driving.
Position Type:
This is a salaried exempt role.
Travel Requirements:
Anticipated travel is approximately 25% to other facilities and/or suppliers.
