Role Summary:
This position involves teaching in a clinical environment in collaboration with our clinical partners. The schedule typically consists of 12-hour shifts (7 AM to 7 PM) for three to four consecutive days.

Course Focus:
The Adult Health (Medical-Surgical) Nursing course emphasizes the care needs of adult patients and their families, focusing on health promotion and the management of both acute and chronic conditions. The nursing process is integral to discussions surrounding health alterations affecting various life processes, allowing students to enhance their professional skills as part of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the College's educational philosophy, curriculum, and course objectives through effective clinical instruction and community service.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Design clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and assessment of nursing students delivering care.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback aligned with course objectives.
  • Offer remediation support to students as necessary.
  • Stay updated on agency and clinical policies with assistance from clinical personnel.
  • Create and distribute written clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge and skill levels.
  • Assess and grade student submissions, including homework, quizzes, and clinical documentation promptly.
  • May deliver didactic course content under the guidance of the course coordinator.
  • Maintain communication with the course coordinator regarding student and agency matters.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with oversight from a course coordinator.

Qualifications:
We encourage candidates to consider this opportunity if they possess:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • An active, unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • A minimum of two years of professional nursing experience within the last five years in the relevant instructional area.
  • Preferred experience in teaching or precepting, though not mandatory.
  • A genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
  • Strong subject matter expertise coupled with excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to serving students and colleagues with respect and care.
  • A sense of responsibility and purpose aimed at enriching the educational community.
  • Possession of an Illinois nursing license prior to accepting any clinical contract for a session.

Compensation:
The expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the credit hours assigned to the course. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors such as course type, experience, geographic location, and departmental budgets.
