Position Overview
This role is integral to providing support to military personnel and their families. Candidates must possess a local or willing to relocate status and hold an independent level license as a Social Worker (LICSW or LICSW-CP), Mental Health Counselor (LPC), or Therapist (LMFT) or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive MFLC consultation and counseling services tailored to the unique needs of military service members and their families.
- Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling directly to service members and their families, including assessment, brief counseling, and resource referrals.
- Maintain accurate counselor activity records through daily data entry while ensuring client confidentiality.
- Develop and sustain professional relationships with military unit commanders and personnel, recognizing the specific mission and culture of the unit.
- Establish a welcoming presence within the military unit, encouraging service members and families to seek support confidentially.
- Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed, adapting schedules to meet urgent needs.
- Manage sensitive reporting situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocols.
- Engage in regular communication with Regional Supervisors and participate in supervision and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited program in a mental health-related field.
- Valid unrestricted counseling license from a recognized authority.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure counseling experience.
- Ability to effectively engage with military members and respond to emergent situations across various environments.
- Proficiency in English and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of service members and their families.
- Pass required background checks and maintain compliance with site-specific requirements.
