Job Overview

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our finance teams play a crucial role in supporting our business and operational units, collaborating to make informed choices that propel our mission and affirm our position as a reliable leader in the industry. We are currently in search of a Senior Financial Analyst to become a part of our team, providing support to the Corporate Infrastructure and Security Team (CIS) within Information Technology Shared Services (ITSS) Finance.

How will you contribute?

As a key member of the Corporate Infrastructure and Security teams, your primary responsibilities will include performing financial analyses and delivering insightful recommendations to facilitate decision-making. You will also be tasked with ensuring the accuracy of financial records and reports. Working closely with various departments will be vital in identifying opportunities to optimize expenditures, enhance financial performance, and drive operational efficiencies. This position offers direct interaction with upper management and executives, allowing you to influence strategy development, challenge existing methodologies, and implement innovative processes and procedures. If you are a proactive self-starter, this role presents an excellent opportunity to showcase your expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Record and post monthly journal entries, thoroughly review and approve invoices, and develop and authorize appropriation requests.
    • Assist in the preparation and presentation of financial reports and presentations to senior leadership.
    • Contribute to the formulation and enhancement of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Forecasting and Analysis:
    • Develop and update financial models to aid in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Communicate risks and opportunities related to anticipated results and devise contingency plans to fulfill financial commitments.
  • Collaborative Partnerships:
    • Engage with teams across various departments to identify methods for improving spending, enhancing financial performance, and streamlining operations.
    • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and drive business outcomes.
    • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel (experience with PowerBI is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and effective financial reporting skills.
  • Proven track record in enhancing operational efficiency.
  • A curious mindset and initiative to uncover root causes of issues with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial analyses to business leaders and achieve operational consensus.
