Specimen Handler

At Actalent, we are seeking a highly skilled Specimen Handler to join our team. As a Specimen Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory by handling and processing biological specimens.

• Collect and transport biological specimens from processing stations to the handling area.
• Handle specimens with personal protective equipment (PPE) without directly touching open swabs or performing tests on the samples.
• Support urine pour-offs prior to testing and move samples between buildings, sometimes walking outside between other labs on campus.
• Perform multi-tasking between different specimen handling functions, including collecting specimens from all processing stations and delivering them to the specimen handling area.
• Understand and adhere to strict quality regulations and prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Prepare SST specimens for RSA and/or manual pour-off, place specimens in a centrifuge for spinning, and perform all required maintenance procedures.
• Document issues in a log book, communicate problems to upper management, and manually process and pour off specimens.
• Sort processed specimens into racks for delivery into the lab by pour-off groups, and carry and push at least 30 pounds around the laboratory.

• Diploma or GED
• Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift
• Comfortable lifting 25+ pounds
