Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Correctional Facility Shift Supervisor to join our team. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the security and control functions of our facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all security functions during shift, including the supervision of inmates and staff
  • Conduct routine inspections of security equipment, doors, gates, fences, lighting systems, and other facility equipment
  • Assist staff with unit counts and reviews reports written by officers during shift
  • Provide on-the-job training and safety training to staff as required
  • Investigate and report causes of inmate disturbances and respond to major unusual occurrences
  • Direct work, provide training, and perform inspections of work performed by inmate workers
  • Assist in review of staff effectiveness and provide input into decisions concerning employee performance ratings and disciplinary actions
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required
  • One year of experience working in a correctional setting required
  • Must meet the requirements of being an Officer
  • Must be flexible, intellectually alert, and able to command the respect and confidence of staff and inmates
  • Must have a working knowledge of correctional laws and applicable court orders
  • Must have a high tolerance to mental stress
  • Must be able to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions
