We are currently seeking a Nonwoven Materials Engineer I to join our team.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The primary aim of this role is to facilitate essential business activities related to the creation and commercialization of nonwoven materials. This position collaborates with team members to innovate and implement new materials, processes, or technological concepts. The engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing nonwoven innovation and product development from initial concept through to market launch. This role involves leading designated projects and maintaining daily technical communication with suppliers while closely partnering with Procurement and R&D to identify, develop, and bring new products to market. Additionally, the engineer will oversee all technical testing and validation of nonwoven finished products, both internally and with partner suppliers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze data to provide insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support material or process initiatives from conception to commercialization.
  • Plan and execute projects under the guidance of management.
  • Communicate and document project strategies to internal stakeholders.
  • Achieve project goals in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of nonwovens with functional guidance.
  • Identify, define, and resolve complex technical challenges to meet unit objectives.
  • Develop and evaluate new wet wipe prototypes to align with business growth objectives.
  • Conduct product testing and prototype evaluations against benchmarks or competitor offerings for marketing, laboratory assessments, and consumer testing.
  • Assist in product scale-up and conduct line trials.
  • Analyze competitor products and assess raw materials utilized.
  • Identify opportunities and propose recommendations for prototype advancements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Strong foundation in scientific principles, including statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, and root cause analysis.
  • Comprehensive understanding of nonwovens, their manufacturing processes, and the associated supply chain.
  • Experience with nonwovens in personal care or surface cleaning applications is advantageous.
  • Solid grasp of the product development lifecycle from concept ideation to market launch.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Experience in a technical role or related function concerning materials and processes within the nonwoven and wipes supply chain (fibers, polymers, etc.) is preferred but not mandatory.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • The engineer will operate in a laboratory setting, with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities and supplier partners for trials.
  • Some domestic travel may be required.
