Position SummaryUnder supervision, assist in the formulation and defense of regulatory submissions concerning company policies and guidelines. Engage with state regulatory bodies regarding grievances, escalated matters, and the correct application of company and regulatory administrative protocols. Aid the organization’s regulatory efforts in front of regulators, their teams, key community stakeholders, and various internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions associated with company policies and guidelines, including testimonies, exhibits, data responses, and necessary documentation for state commissions.
• Act as a representative of the organization to support regulatory efforts to regulators, their teams, key community stakeholders, and other internal departments.
• Analyze rules and regulations to determine their applicability to both internal and external entities.
• Participate in training and communication efforts regarding system modifications to align with any changes in rules or regulations.
• Provide analysis and present alternatives and recommendations to management to influence decision-making concerning regulatory policies and strategies.
• Conduct cost analysis on applicable charges in each state. Collaborate with relevant business units to prepare testimonies, respond to data requests, and communicate results of any changes.
• Collaborate with state regulatory bodies on customer complaints and the appropriate application of company and regulatory administrative protocols.
• Assist in preparing and participating in formal customer complaint processes and hearings.
• Address escalated issues within established timelines, focusing on service recovery for customers.
• Propose and facilitate improvement initiatives with business units to enhance processes and efficiencies while ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned, such as liaising with low-income assistance organizations and identifying strategies to minimize customer complaints.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of experience in regulatory affairs.
• Intermediate understanding of relevant company policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Proficient in using personal computers, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation software for data analysis and modeling.
• Familiarity with the company's customer service applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive matters.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals across all organizational levels.
• Capability to present alternatives and recommendations effectively.
• Project management skills, including leadership, task identification, scheduling, and cost management.
• Willingness to travel as necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
