Position Type: Pool Position - Hours Not Guaranteed
As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including surgical, general fluoroscopy, and trauma examinations. Your primary focus will be to deliver safe, efficient, and courteous care to patients while utilizing advanced radiographic, fluoroscopy, portable, and C-arm equipment.
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Radiology Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute all x-ray examinations, including routine, fluoroscopy, operating room, and portable procedures.
- Assist radiologists or attending physicians during specialized exams to ensure maximum diagnostic accuracy.
- Provide direct training and supervision to student technologists in collaboration with clinical instructors.
- Complete necessary documentation, including "Informed Consent" and "Prescreening" forms.
- Administer contrast media under the supervision of a physician.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all x-ray equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Be available for standby and on-call duties as required, ensuring readiness within 20 minutes of notification.
- Adhere to radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
- Understand and implement universal precautions and personal protective equipment guidelines.
- Utilize PACS, RIS, and current EMR systems efficiently, ensuring all paperwork is completed for each examination.
- Review and assess diagnostic images for technical quality.
- Complete the necessary education and competencies to perform EKGs as required.
- Comply with continuing education requirements set by regulatory bodies.
- Participate in departmental meetings and complete all mandatory training and in-service education.
- Assist in patient lifting and transfers, employing safe ergonomic techniques and utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Engage in Quality Improvement Programs to enhance departmental performance.
- Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Exhibit professional standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all job-related activities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.).
- Clinical experience in diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy obtained during the completion of an A.R.R.T.-approved program.
- A.R.R.T. registration or eligibility within six months of hire (actively pursuing registry with a valid Washington State X-ray Technician license).
- Washington State Certification as a Radiologic Technologist.
Desired:
- Certification or registration in additional diagnostic imaging specialties.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing.
