Structural Planner

International Marine and Industrial Applicators (IMIA) is seeking a skilled Structural Planner to join our team. As a Structural Planner, you will play a critical role in developing structural plans and writing technical work instructions for our production team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct structural inspections and identify deficiencies found onboard naval vessels.
- Work with the production team to develop structural plans and develop work packages for production use.
- Review work specifications to develop work instructions for trades use and interpret NAVSEA drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements and resolve technical specification conflicts or suitable substitutes.
- Assist purchasing in finding qualified vendors and assist in other duties as assigned.
- Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel Required).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (Structural/Weld drawing experience preferred).
- Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and familiarity with Government publications and standards for specifications and manuals.
- Working knowledge of Naval Ship repair & installation practices, specifically welding and fitting.
- Minimum one (1) or more years in a shipyard production environment preferably in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards.
This position will be performed in an office environment under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime. Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces.
