About the Job

International Marine and Industrial Applicators (IMIA) is seeking a skilled Structural Planner to join our team. As a Structural Planner, you will play a critical role in developing structural plans and writing technical work instructions for our production team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct structural inspections and identify deficiencies found onboard naval vessels.
  • Work with the production team to develop structural plans and develop work packages for production use.
  • Review work specifications to develop work instructions for trades use and interpret NAVSEA drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements and resolve technical specification conflicts or suitable substitutes.
  • Assist purchasing in finding qualified vendors and assist in other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel Required).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (Structural/Weld drawing experience preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and familiarity with Government publications and standards for specifications and manuals.
  • Working knowledge of Naval Ship repair & installation practices, specifically welding and fitting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) or more years in a shipyard production environment preferably in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards.
Working Conditions

This position will be performed in an office environment under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime. Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces.
