Job Title: Planner/Estimator

At Nationwide Skilled Trades, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Planner/Estimator to join our team. As a Planner/Estimator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of ship repair projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed labor and material estimates for shipboard/shop work and repairs.
  • Review Automated Work Requests (AWRs) and write specifications and changes for work items.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor price quotations.
  • Participate in job site inspections and ship checks to verify technical information.
  • Prepare requisitions for subcontracts, rentals, and materials to support proposal pricing.
  • Interface with Subcontracts Group to resolve technical and schedule issues with subcontractors.
  • Prepare work breakdown structures to support proposal submittals and negotiations.
  • Establish execution approach for work requirements with project and production management.
  • Work closely with Production and Schedulers to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated schedule.
  • Resolution of technical and schedule issues with contracts, project, and production management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced MS Excel proficiency.
  • Knowledge of shipboard nomenclature and systems.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.
  • Working knowledge of Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Planning and Execution Modules.
  • Ability to track ongoing work and repairs for feedback on material and man-hour estimating effort.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Working Relationships:

Reports to the Planning and Estimating Manager and interfaces with Production Management, Scheduling, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, and the customer.

Accountability:

Accurate, timely, and complete work specifications and estimates in support of execution.
