We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a key member of our Radiology department, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations, including 3D and 4D imaging, and providing high-quality diagnostic results.
Key Responsibilities- Select and operate ultrasonography equipment to perform examinations, ensuring accuracy and quality of scan results.
- Evaluate patient records for prior findings and test results to aid in determining exam completeness.
- Select and record preliminary study results, preparing reports using our department-specific structured reporting system.
- Communicate ultrasound findings to physicians for interpretation and consult with radiologists as needed.
- Perform transducer decontamination and maintain log entries, reporting any discrepancies to the Education Coordinator.
- Participate in interventional procedures, modifying billing fields to reflect the exam being performed.
- Instruct and oversee students, residents, and physician staff in unit operations.
- Maintain ultrasonography equipment, recognizing malfunctions and ensuring quality control procedures are maintained.
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and registry eligible.
- Minimum one year of experience performing a wide range of general and specialty ultrasound exams.
- Experience in high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, complex infertility, and guided biopsies preferred.
- Competent in ultrasound reporting systems and possess a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physiological data.
- Required licensure and certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate, licensure by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in New Hampshire, and active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in specialty areas.
