Job Title: Retail Store Associate

Job Summary:
The Retail Store Associate will provide exceptional customer service to donors and customers in daily store operations, striving to meet sales goals. The ideal candidate will prepare donated items for retail sale, maintain a clean and organized store environment, and provide a positive shopping experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales:
  • Ensure the store is well-stocked, displayed, and clean at all times.
  • Provide prompt and accurate checkout services while operating a cash register.
  • Verify bank deposits and cash drawers at the end of each business day.
  • Communicate with Accounting and Retail teams regarding any discrepancies.
  • Process bank deposits and maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to retail dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures according to retail policy.

Donations:
  • Greet donors warmly and offer assistance, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Offer every donor a receipt and maintain accurate records.
  • Decline donations when necessary and maintain knowledge of acceptable items.
  • Sort and process donations efficiently.
  • Wear personal protective gear as required.

Processing:
  • Meet production goals for grading, sorting, and preparing donated items for retail sale.
  • Transfer saleable items to the sales floor to maintain a well-stocked environment.
  • Prepare products for shipping according to standard operating procedures.
  • Wear personal protective gear as required.

All Areas:
  • Communicate effectively with staff and provide leadership during shifts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Be punctual and ready to work at designated times.
  • Communicate shipping and transportation concerns to store management.
  • Be willing to work at other stores as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to Goodwill's attendance policy.
