Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse RN Float to join our team at Hendricks Regional Health. As a School Nurse RN Float, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare services to students in our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fiscal Responsibility
    • Manage supplies and equipment efficiently to minimize waste and promote cost savings.
    • Complete duties in a timely manner and manage scheduled hours per established practice.
    • Attend education as scheduled and complete documentation per procedure.
  • Quality
    • Provide quality triage, treatment, or first aid for students who are ill or injured.
    • Interpret, implement, and document quality measures per Indiana State Board of Health specific standards.
    • Critically think, possess a positive attitude, and delegate tasks effectively.
    • Streamline processes to enhance the student experience.
    • Create Individualized Healthcare Plans when student health warrants.
  • Patient Satisfaction
    • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication with students, school staff, and parents.
    • Practice professional use of personal electronic devices in care areas and maintain privacy/confidentiality.
    • Present a genuine care and concern for all students and meet specific healthcare needs.
    • Facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning.
  • Patient Safety
    • Practice safety practices in accordance with universal precautions.
    • Administer medication safely and maintain accurate records.
    • Maintain knowledge of current pharmacology.
    • Provide student and parent education when indicated.
    • Disseminate information and training specific to student health to school personnel.
  • Professional Growth
    • Maintain competency by subbing on a routine basis.
    • Demonstrate leadership and exemplary behavior as an adult role model.
    • Participate in professional organization activities and/or be an active council member.
    • Attend conferences, in-services, webinars, seminars, and read journal articles related to school and/or public health.
  • Customer Service
    • Meet identified customer service standards and address ethical issues.
    • Understand and demonstrate Hendricks Regional Health's nursing mission, vision, values, and philosophy.
    • Exhibit excellent guest relations to students, parents, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and promote collegial relationships.
    • Provide holistic, competent care to students of all age groups and diverse populations.
    • Foster relationships with future healthcare students and education programs.
  • Supports School Nursing Departments
    • Float to different schools or events for short- or long-term needs.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate in Nursing Degree required.
  • Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred or required with 5 years of hire date.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in the health field relating to school-age children and/or previous experience in school nursing preferred.
  • BLS and computer skills required.
  • Area-specific required education may be obtained upon hire and is to be maintained.

Mandatory licensure/certifications: Current licensure by the Indiana State Board of Nurses' Registration and Nursing Education as an active Registered Nurse.
