What will your responsibilities include?
- Oversee the children, educational environment, and all activities to ensure that the curriculum aligns with the developmental stages and abilities of the children.
- Design daily, weekly, and monthly program frameworks to assist staff preparation and keep parents updated.
- Recruit, schedule, and manage staff in a licensed childcare setting or day camp.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings and perform annual evaluations of staff performance.
- Adhere to all relevant California Community Care Licensing standards.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, children, school staff, and colleagues, demonstrating effective relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Encourage and lead parental involvement in committees and activities.
What qualifications are needed?
- Must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Fulfill educational and experience requirements set by state law, including completion of at least 12 post-secondary semester units in specified early childhood education courses, alongside a minimum of two years of experience in a licensed Child Care Center or equivalent.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a focus on early childhood education or child development, plus a minimum of two years of experience in a licensed Child Care Center or equivalent.
- Complete three additional units in Early Childhood Administration within six months of commencing the role (can be completed during the initial six months of employment).
- Familiarity with California childcare licensing regulations and best practices in childcare.
- Capability to mentor and guide staff effectively.
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships with school personnel and parents.
- Proven ability to create activity schedules, snack menus, and parent communications to ensure the program operates efficiently and effectively.
- Proactive in planning, leading, and participating in activities.
- Hold Pediatric CPR & First Aid certifications from recognized organizations (can be obtained during the hiring process).
