About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Agriculture Program Manager to join our team at the State of Idaho. As a key member of our Agriculture Resources Division, you will be responsible for overseeing the Pesticides Program and ensuring the safe and effective use of pesticides in our state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Supervise a team of Pesticide Training Agriculture Program Specialists and establish, implement, and monitor training program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Review divisional seminar audits for content and credit worthiness, issue enforcement actions as necessary, and assist with divisional quality assurance adherence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review examination testing protocols for accuracy and applicability, suggest changes when necessary, and receive and maintain ISDA investigator credentials.
  • Investigations and Coordination: Assist and/or conduct regional investigations as necessary, coordinate with certification examination testing contractors, and ensure the standards of testing/certification are being followed.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Review, approve, and process seminar recertification requests, and analyze tolerance setting procedures, risk-benefit evaluations, and risk assessments.
Requirements
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in an environmental or ecological-related science, or at least four (4) years of work experience demonstrating the application of these processes.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience demonstrating the application of processes in a work environment specializing in an environmental or ecological-related field.
  • Skills: Considerable knowledge of pesticide use, toxicity, and modes of action, principles of environmental contamination and risk assessment, and experience reviewing and interpreting pesticide labels and related laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and pesticide laws and associated rules.
  • Classification and application of agrichemicals and their effects on humans, animals, and the environment.
  • Current or previous Professional Applicator's license with statewide consultant category.
