About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Data Scientist to join our team at J.R. Simplot Company. As a key member of our data-driven team, you will play a critical role in leveraging data analytics and statistics to drive business growth and improve agricultural outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct data discovery to identify and capture the lifecycle of data assets, and source-to-target data mapping.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and design data origination and maintenance workflows and service levels.
  • Design processes with IT and business stakeholders to capture and resolve data issues in a timely manner.
  • Assess the effectiveness of data origination, maintenance, and issue management processes, and present recommendations for improvement.
  • Drive and/or participate in data pipeline development, deployment, and maintenance activities leveraging tools including Python, SQL, Databricks, Azure DevOps, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Apply data science techniques to solve complex business challenges, improve efficiencies, and lead to positive return-on-investment outcomes.
  • Develop relationships with business stakeholders across the company to create a positive culture around the use of data and analytics to enhance operations and outcomes.
  • Ensure information security policies and standards are understood and followed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university.
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Strong understanding of Python programming language, SQL, spatiotemporal analysis, remote sensing data, computer vision, and the Azure cloud platform.
  • Experience with cropping systems and practices, GIS & GPS technologies, farming equipment and control systems, and strong analytics and presentation skill sets.
