The cardiothoracic surgery department is in search of a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide coverage in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) and the CT Stepdown unit. This position involves rotating 12.5-hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

Working in Cardiothoracic Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital means addressing intricate cases by leveraging advanced technology to deliver patient-centered care as part of a highly collaborative team.

Our nurses play a crucial role across the spectrum of screening, diagnosis, treatment, and care, driving the exchange of knowledge and best practices that lead to transformative patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
The Nurse Practitioner for Cardiothoracic Surgery will be responsible for planning, assessing, managing, and delivering patient-centered care. You will be an integral member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with your guidance and coordination significantly influencing the quality of patient care.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to identify, develop, and implement quality assurance initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, maximizing satisfaction, and streamlining departmental processes.
  • Contribute to the development of APP training programs, coordinate training sessions, and maintain training documentation.
  • Engage in departmental clinical research, including screening potential subjects, obtaining consent, randomizing, and completing follow-up visits using electronic case report forms.
  • Provide continuity of care in outpatient clinics before and after surgical procedures.
  • Develop and uphold policies, standards, and processes related to patient care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior RN or NP experience in ICU or cardiothoracic surgery/ICU is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner License
  • Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association

Salary Range:
$146,250-$163,075/Annual
