Job Summary

The Culinary Institute of America is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Security Architect to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing secure, scalable, and effective hardware and software solutions.

You will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within our infrastructure. This includes evaluating current network and security technologies, developing requirements for local and wide area networks, cloud environments, routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices.

The successful candidate will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design, build, maintenance, and troubleshooting processes for our infrastructure, both on-premise and cloud-based.
  • Design, implement, and support network and infrastructure security programs.
  • Assist in the design, creation, and implementation of infrastructure and security roadmaps for future technologies and programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with security threats and technologies, and maintain relationships with security vendors and market analysts.
  • Ensure all IT solutions align with infrastructure security architecture best practices and comply with relevant security policies, frameworks, and standards.
  • Develop and maintain system installation and configuration documentation, as well as change management best practices.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that increase effectiveness, security, and flexibility.
  • Manage infrastructure and security capital projects, including planning, implementation, and budget management.
  • Document our existing systems architecture and technology portfolio, and make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configure and add new services as necessary.
  • Manage and monitor our security environments, including firewalls, anti-virus, and anti-spyware protections for workstations and servers.
  • Manage the implementation and management of identity and user security, including password/account management, single sign-on, and account lifecycle management.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance, and report on findings and assist in making improvements.
  • Assist and coordinate on the implementation and ongoing maintenance of departmental-specific software solutions.
  • Work with both Client Services and Enterprise Information teams in support of production systems and the implementation of new systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or significant work experience in lieu thereof.
  • Five (5) years of experience in IT infrastructure and network security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of effective vendor management.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and support multiple technologies serving a wide variety of departments and users.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience in systems and network design and development.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and practices.
  • Solid grounding in core enterprise applications, including server virtualization, cloud services, datacenter design and management, directory design and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, ability to be adaptable, dependable, and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to show a high level of service responsiveness to internal customers.
  • Must have a proven consistent track record showing the ability to work with all levels within an organization.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
Working Conditions

Must be available to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.

Must be available for overnight travel to branch campuses for both planned and unplanned trips as required by business needs.

Regular work requires a great deal of walking, bending, stretching, and reaching.

Regular work may also require the ability to work at a computer for periods in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
