Position Summary:
The Senior Solar Photovoltaic Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role involves troubleshooting, replacing components, and generating comprehensive reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Key Responsibilities:
- Install solar panels on rooftops and various structures.
- Diagnose AC & DC electrical systems, identify faults, and assess equipment status.
- Configure PV systems according to site conditions and client specifications; connect panels to the power grid.
- Ensure that all equipment is adequately weatherproofed.
- Conduct routine maintenance on PV systems and inverters.
- Communicate professionally with clients, including managing difficult situations.
- Perform additional related tasks as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of PV equipment and installation processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in reading building plans.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools for PV panel installation and other related equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and its applications.
- Knowledge of National and California electrical and building codes, ensuring compliance with minimum standards.
Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to utilize software tools such as Jobber, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce.
Education and Experience:
- Previous service experience is essential.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Vocational or technical training is preferred but not mandatory.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- NABCEP Certification is advantageous but not compulsory.
- ET Card is highly preferred.
- Certifications from inverter/solar equipment manufacturers are beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to work at significant heights.
- Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces.
- Capacity to perform under stress and in high-temperature environments.
