Job Summary:

As a Senior Surgical Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Under the direct supervision of our experienced surgical team, you will assist in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing expert support to our surgeons and nurses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning, draping, and preparing the surgical site.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by checking and preparing equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Provide expert support to surgeons and nurses during procedures, including handing instruments, retractors, and other equipment.
  • Count and verify sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
  • Participate in room turnover and cleaning to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.
  • Assist in the training and development of new surgical team members.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Surgical Technology.
  • Experience with minimally invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, GYN, podiatry, maxillofacial, and neuro surgery specialties.
