Job Summary:

The Child Welfare Investigative Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Arizona's children. This position conducts thorough investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather evidence and build cases. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Arizona law related to special victims, forensics, and homicide, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and respond to criminal conduct reports generated by the Child Abuse Hotline
  • Conduct interviews, collect documents, and record interactions in the Statewide Automated - Child Welfare Information Systems
  • Testify in court regarding child welfare investigations
  • Assist on cases involving allegations of child abuse resulting in serious injury or death
  • Attend high-profile staffing meetings and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 2 years of law enforcement or investigative experience specializing in crimes against children and sex crimes
  • 18 months of experience as an Investigative DCS Specialist with the AZ Department of Child Safety or any Child Safety State Agency
