About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commodity Manager to join our team at Gates Corporation. As a key member of our global sourcing team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, directing, and monitoring of all procurement activities to ensure the organization meets its standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity supply agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms.
  • Manage and lead efforts on cost savings initiatives in line with a profit plan and overall business objectives.
  • Lead negotiation for the assigned portfolio of spending categories.
  • Utilize cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers.
  • Acquire and maintain understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps.
  • Manage supply base by establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all of procurement to ensure total cost, as well as mitigate price increases and find alternate supply base.
  • Act as project manager (develop, manage and implement) for cross functional teams to build stakeholder alignment (Technical, R&D, Sales & Marketing, Regional and local teams, etc.) to meet objectives.
  • Contract management - reviewing to ensure specific requirements are present, appropriate review and signing authority is present.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a BA or BS degree in a relevant concentration; MBA preferred. 5+ years of progressive global change agent experience in commodity management/supply chain management is required. CPSM (ISM) or CSCP (APICS) certification is preferred.

Strong Proficiency with all Microsoft and MRP/Supply Chain systems is essential. Excellent analytical and project management capabilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication across regions, functions, and levels, are required. Excellent negotiating capability, collaboration and influence management skills, and proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization are also essential.

Exceptional time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once are required. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. This position may require travel time of up to 30%. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
