BAYADA Home Health Care, a leading non-profit healthcare organization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Litigation Attorney to join its team. As a key member of the legal services team, this attorney will play a critical role in managing professional and general liability claims, as well as employment-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize claims files, focusing on risk management and developing effective defense strategies.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of clinical records, jury verdicts, and other relevant data to support case development.
- Set accurate case reserves and review pleadings, discovery, motions, and releases.
- Research and identify potential expert witnesses, review their credentials, and assess their suitability for each case.
- Interact with plaintiff's counsel, defense counsel, employees, and witnesses to gather information and build strong relationships.
- Support the preparation for mediation, deposition, and trial, utilizing litigation case management software and other tools to ensure accurate case file notes and documents.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Three to five years of hands-on file management experience in a law firm or in-house healthcare environment, focusing on professional, general liability, and employment matters.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong organizational skills and prioritization abilities.
- Professional dedication to supporting a non-profit healthcare organization and its employees in defense of claims.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and external counsel.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as matter management software.
