Job SummaryThe Police Cadet will serve as a non-sworn police auxiliary personnel, performing various clerical and technical support tasks under general supervision. This position is ideal for individuals considering a career in law enforcement and seeking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Perform various clerical tasks, including copying, shredding, and filing documents
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
- Interact with the public and provide factual information about Department procedures or services
- Prepare routine reports and forms
- Assist staff in performing day-to-day tasks
- Participate in and provide support to special projects and events
To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, some college coursework, and a demonstrated interest in a law enforcement career. Additionally, incumbents must maintain a course load of at least 12 college semester units/quarter system equivalent and maintain a grade "C" average or higher.
Working ConditionsWork may be performed primarily in a field setting under a full range of environmental conditions and/or in a traditional office setting. Cadets may work with and/or in close proximity to chemicals, blood products, and various controlled substances. Irregular work assignments, and work on holidays/evenings may be required. Occasional exposure to weather conditions.
