UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer II to join our team in the Peripheral Vascular Lab. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of patient care, technical, and diagnostic tasks targeted to the care of patients with cardiovascular disease.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment, emergency cardiac care, and post-procedure transport.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated and properly maintained on a daily basis, performing and recording all equipment maintenance and quality assurance monitoring.
- Generate high-quality ultrasound images of the heart and/or vascular related structures, performing advanced cardiac ultrasound studies in care of patients with complex conditions.
- Perform vascular studies and real-time readings/reports in the operating room for invasive and non-invasive vascular procedures.
- Conduct studies for inpatient neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients.
- May perform staff training and education, serving as a subject matter expert and resource to Cardiovascular Sonographers.
- Monitor and record patient information, maintaining report storage and data systems, and compiling and entering data necessary for charge entry and preparing reports.
- Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for daily use, responsible for timely and efficient room preparation between procedures.
- Independently respond to on-call needs for emergent procedures.
- Associate's degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field within 3 months of hire, or completion of a 12-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
- Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
- One year minimum experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Specific competencies required by entity.
