We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team at the Coast Guard Community Services Command. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and executing early childhood education and development activities, teaching children with a variety of educational materials and programs, and collaborating with parents to promote understanding and follow-up actions benefiting the children.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute early childhood education and development activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children.
- Teach children with a variety of educational materials and programs, incorporating special instructions provided by parents as needed.
- Collaborate with parents to promote understanding and follow-up actions benefiting the children.
- Supervise classroom assistants or volunteers to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure that program plans and activities incorporate the observed needs of individual children and youth.
- Implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children.
- Role model developmentally appropriate practice and classroom or activity area management techniques.
- Promote and model safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices.
- Help prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials.
- Establish a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
- Two-year degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field of study.
- Two years of experience in childcare or preschool environments.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
- Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
