Position Summary:

The Lead HVAC/R Installation Specialist, reporting directly to the Installation Manager, plays a crucial role in the installation of ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This position involves inspecting and testing systems and equipment during start-up to ensure optimal performance. The specialist will maintain ongoing communication with Project Managers and Sales Engineers to clarify installation specifics and convey project requirements and outcomes. Regular interaction with clients is essential, necessitating a professional demeanor and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction:

  • Maintain a consistently professional and positive attitude when engaging with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team.
  • Identify additional maintenance needs and report them to the appropriate personnel.

Work Management and Documentation:

  • Organize all job details, including work performed and service recommendations, and complete accurate work tickets for billing and payroll. All paperwork must be submitted to the office weekly or monthly as required.
  • Acquire and document purchase order numbers for job-related parts and supplies when necessary.

Essential Duties:

  • This role demands significant physical effort, often in challenging conditions and awkward positions.
  • Load the company vehicle with necessary equipment and tools, traveling to and from job sites.
  • Transport equipment (such as furnaces, compressors, and ductwork) and tools to designated areas on job sites.
  • Conduct related plumbing and electrical tasks, including making terminal connections.
  • Perform all job functions at heights, utilizing ladders, scaffolds, and other elevated platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Proficiency in basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and fractions.
  • Accurate completion of daily paperwork.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Capability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Physical ability to lift, climb, bend, and kneel as necessary.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Annual safety training is mandatory.
  • Refrigerant transition and recovery certification (levels 2-3) is required.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and training.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lift 50 lbs, occasionally lift 100 lbs, and lift over 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs while carrying tools or equipment.
  • Engage in bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting activities.
  • Extended periods of walking are required.
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment such as forklifts.
  • Utilize hand and power tools effectively.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous materials with appropriate protective measures.
