Job Description

Job Summary:

As an HVAC/R Installation Technician at Seamans Mechanical, you will be responsible for installing ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment. You will inspect and perform tests on systems and equipment at start-up to ensure proper functioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional, positive attitude when interacting with customers and coworkers.
    • Exhibit strong human relations skills and function as a team player.
    • Observe and report additional maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work Condition and Paperwork:
    • Organize and complete accurate work tickets for billing and payroll purposes.
    • Submit all paperwork to the office by the designated deadline.
  • Essential Functions:
    • Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy labor, in adverse conditions and uncomfortable positions.
    • Load and drive company vehicles to and from job sites.
    • Move equipment, supplies, and tools to designated areas of job sites.
    • Perform associated plumbing and electrical work, including making terminal connections.
    • Work at heights, using ladders, scaffolds, roofs, and platforms.
  • Job Qualifications:
    • Valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record.
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Read and write English.
    • Write legibly.
    • Perform basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, and calculating sales tax.
    • Follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Follow all safety rules and procedures.
    • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Perform heavy physical labor during adverse weather conditions.
    • Work in confined spaces, exposed to fumes, chemicals, grease, acids, oil, and noise.
    • Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
    • Be available to work flexible hours, including before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm, weekends, and holidays.
    • Complete annual safety training and maintain refrigerant transition and recovery certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 50 pounds frequently, 100 pounds occasionally, and 100+ pounds with assistance.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and other elevated surfaces.
  • Bend, stoop, twist, and squat.
  • Walk extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
  • Operate company vehicles, Hi-lo, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Use power and hand tools, from floor to above head.
  • Exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and materials with proper PPE.
