Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Building Principal.

Role Overview: The Inclusive Education Specialist is responsible for the academic and social development of students assigned to their class. This role involves leading a team approach to assess and address each child's unique needs, ensuring the provision of appropriate special education and support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate the individual needs of each student on the class roster, utilizing data collection and progress monitoring as necessary.
  2. Actively participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), outlining each child's current functioning levels, goals, and evaluation methods.
  3. Maintain a positive and safe learning environment within the classroom.
  4. Create and implement daily lesson plans that align with IEP objectives.
  5. Design an engaging and motivational classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  6. Facilitate integration opportunities with the general education curriculum for students who can benefit from such experiences.
  7. Conduct parent-teacher conferences as required, ensuring effective communication with families.
  8. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, particularly regarding each student's IEP.
  10. Serve as the team leader for each student, ensuring their needs are met through collaboration and participation in team meetings and IEP reviews.
  11. Utilize Non-violent Crisis Intervention techniques as needed.
  12. Engage in ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, and relevant training opportunities.
  13. Be prepared to handle physical tasks, such as moving educational materials.
  14. Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend various materials while maintaining focus.
  15. Effectively manage multiple demands and interact positively with the public and staff.
