Role Overview: The Inclusive Education Specialist is responsible for the academic and social development of students assigned to their class. This role involves leading a team approach to assess and address each child's unique needs, ensuring the provision of appropriate special education and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the individual needs of each student on the class roster, utilizing data collection and progress monitoring as necessary.
- Actively participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), outlining each child's current functioning levels, goals, and evaluation methods.
- Maintain a positive and safe learning environment within the classroom.
- Create and implement daily lesson plans that align with IEP objectives.
- Design an engaging and motivational classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Facilitate integration opportunities with the general education curriculum for students who can benefit from such experiences.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences as required, ensuring effective communication with families.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, particularly regarding each student's IEP.
- Serve as the team leader for each student, ensuring their needs are met through collaboration and participation in team meetings and IEP reviews.
- Utilize Non-violent Crisis Intervention techniques as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, and relevant training opportunities.
- Be prepared to handle physical tasks, such as moving educational materials.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend various materials while maintaining focus.
- Effectively manage multiple demands and interact positively with the public and staff.
