The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our team. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, and other community or congregate care settings.
Key Responsibilities- Provide independent nursing care to patients, including assessments, lab tests, and care planning.
- Develop and implement care plans, including the administration of medication and case management.
- Participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments.
- Supervise support staff and provide leadership and guidance as needed.
- Licensure as an RN by state code.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, analyze problems, and suggest solutions.
- Leadership and follow directions, establish priorities, and function independently.
- Skills in physical examination, health assessment, and interviewing and counseling techniques.
- Ability to function as a team member and relate to the public.
- Knowledge of public health concepts, principles of public health nursing, and principles of epidemiology.
- Basic nursing science, medical terminology, and case management.
- Additional study in health promotion or public health.
- Experience in a public health setting or one related to disease prevention and health promotion.
- A front-loaded amount of 40 hours annual leave.
