Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range, representing a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate.

As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Under general supervision, you will provide claim business partners with the scientific and engineering aspects of a loss, enabling them to make informed decisions.

What Will You Do?

You will serve as a technical expert in one or more of the following areas:

  • Fire science
  • Origin and cause investigations
  • Failure analysis of electrical, mechanical, and material systems and components
  • Warnings and instructions
  • Product liability
  • Code evaluation
  • Accident reconstruction
  • Computer modeling
  • Tool mark analysis
  • Analysis of building systems and construction techniques
  • Fire protection and alarm system evaluation
  • Analytical chemistry

You will be familiar with the proper elements of a forensic investigation, including proper documentation, rules of evidence, scene and lab safety, and various procedures and policies within our company.

You will travel to loss scenes to assist with and become part of the investigative team, ensuring that various aspects of the investigation are completed, including evidence collection and preservation, witness interviews, analysis of the scene, and providing technical advice and consultation to attorneys and claims staff associated with the loss.

You will conduct research and testing, prepare reports (verbal and written), and aid the claims and legal staff with the scientific aspects of the case.

You may be required to become familiar with applicable codes and industry standards, as well as laboratory testing protocols, that may be required during an investigation.

You will provide testimony in legal proceedings, including depositions, trials, mediations, and arbitrations.

You will prepare materials and data as needed to support the overall functions of Risk Control, Claims Services, and Underwriting, including newsletters, reports, or presentations.

You will maintain your knowledge and skills in your particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals, and participating in specific industry standards organizations.

You will perform other duties as assigned.

What is a Must Have?

A BA/BS in science or engineering and five years of work experience in the field of study are required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

A valid driver's license is required.
